Ember of the Hollow
★★★★★ 4.6
Ember of the Hollow is a compact role-playing game that respects your time without cutting corners. You play a wandering courier who stumbles into a dying kingdom, and from there the story branches based on who you help and who you ignore. The writing is sharper than I expected for a mobile RPG.
Combat is turn-based but quick, with a small set of skills you mix into combos. I liked that leveling felt meaningful rather than grindy. The touch menus are tidy, and you can autosave mid-dungeon for those interrupted commutes.
By the end I actually cared about a couple of the side characters, which is rare for something I was playing in two-minute bursts.
What we liked
- Branching story with real consequences
- Snappy turn-based combat
- Smart save system for short sessions
